On Tuesday November 26, 2013, HostSellers will be upgrading our Anti-Spam Filtering Software.

Customers should be aware of the following changes:

SPAM Filter Modifications

Overview

We are making a spam filtering change that will affect the behaviour of mail that is forwarded to 3rd party ISP's through mail forwards and external aliases.  Currently this mail is forwarded unfiltered. However, forwarding of all messages is causing 3rd party mail providers like Gmail and Yahoo to flag our systems for sending a high volume of spam through to their servers. This gives our mail systems poor sending reputation and causes delivery problems for all users on the cluster, creating issues like delivery delays or non-delivery of mail to the forwarded address. For that reason, we need to make adjustments to have our system filter any messages that have been tagged as spam before sending to external aliases/forward.  Messages that are not tagged as spam will be forwarded normally.

What are the Modifications

To reduce the amount of SPAM being forwarded to Customer’s third-party ISP, we are changing the filtering behviour so that it recognizes and then drops any emails that have been marked as SPAM, before it is forwarded.

How does this impact Customers

Most customers will not need to change anything.  In the rare case that the customer needs access to the suspect emails that are being blocked the customer can modify their account to deliver locally then use their 3rd party mail program to retrieve the email from their account.

This upgrade is in accordance with our policy to ensure the continued reliability of HostSellers' systems.
